. . . A Note From JMT

After countless requests for a sequel to John Michael Talbot's best-selling Table of Plenty in 1998, Troubadour for the Lord announces the February15, 2005 release of City of God.

Although similar in concept and performance, City of God takes the creative journey a step further with more advanced arrangements, the best players, and further artistic development afforded by the years since the initial release of Table of Plenty.

City of God contains more of the favorite songs of our faith, plus John Michael's own choices of songs he has sung in congregations throughout the world in his 30 years in ministry. The result is an enjoyable collection of songs much beloved by millions of the Christian faith.

Musically, John Michael used more complex arrangements through the use of key modulations, expansive pop and classical vocal overlays, and many different acoustic and electric guitars. John Michael says, "I always enjoy pulling out the steel string to add to my more traditional classical playing. I thoroughly enjoyed using the vintage electric guitars myself, and calling in some of the finest session players as well." Veteran orchestrator and producer Phil Perkins contributed some of his best orchestral arrangements to date.

"Through all this we hope and pray that we have worked together to produce a rich project that will reach meaningfully into the hearts and souls of those who heard these songs at important points in their spiritual journey," adds John Michael, "and City of God contains songs with this timeless quality - it was a pleasure and an honor to set these songs to music."
