Building 429 is an American rock band signed with Essential, formerly with INO Records.
History[]
The band formed in late 1999 in North Carolina, by Jason Roy and Scotty Beshears, eventually being joined by Paul Bowden and Michael Anderson.[1] The name 'Building 429' was inspired by a youth group named 'Challenge 429', which was itself derived from the Bible verse , Ephesians

The band released their debut album independently. In 2003, they opened for SONICFLOOd's American tour, before being signed to Word Label Group later in the year. Their first released with the label was an EP entitled Glory Defined, before releasing an album, Space In Between Us.[1] In 2004, the band's single, 'Glory Defined', spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot Christian Songs Chart.[3]
In 2006, the band released Rise, an album produced with Monroe Jones.[1] The album reached number 3 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums Chart,[4] with the singles I Believe, I Belong To You, and Fearless all entering the Billboard Hot Christian Songs Chart.[3]
In 2011, the band released Listen to the Sound. The album peaked at number 2 on the Top Christian Albums Chart,[4] with the single Where I Belong spending 15 weeks atop the Hot Christian Songs chart.[3] In 2013, the band released We Won't Be Shaken, which became the band's first album to top the Top Christian Albums chart.[4]
In 2019, the band released the single Fear No More, plus an EP including four versions of the song[5], peaking at 11 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart.[3] In the same year, the band launched their own record label, 3rd Wave Music,[6] and embarked on a tour of the USA with Britt Nicole.[5]
In 2020, the band released the single Different, which was written by Jason Roy along with his daughter.[7]

The band have learnt to understand the importance of music in ministry. After touring with Casting Crowns, Roy remarked 'I think that tour really opened our eyes to recognize that true ministry can be found in music.'[1]
