BarlowGirl are an American[1] band, who released music in 2000s and early 2010s. The band consisted of Becca, Alyssa and Lauren Barlow.[2]

Early Life[]

The Barlow sisters were born in Illinois.[1] As children they learnt to play the piano, eventually going on to perform as a backing band for their father.[2]

Career[]

After attending the GMA Music In The Rockies seminars, the group were signed to Fervent Records,[2] with whom they released their self-titled debut album in 2004.[3] Their second album, Another Journal Entry, was released in 2005,[3] containing the song 'I Need You to Love Me', which spent 13 weeks at the top of the Billboard CHR chart.[4]

In 2008, the trio embarked on a tour entitled Million Voices Tour, in support of Mercy Ministries, a charity providing support to women struggling with addiction and abuse.[5] The group released Love and War in 2009, before releasig a greatest hits compilation entitled Our Journey... So Far in 2010.[6]

In 2012, the trio announced their retirement. Their final song, 'Hope Will Lead Us On', was released in October 2012.[4]

Faith[]

In an interview in 2008, Lauren Barlow described how God had helped her when she had been struggling with an eating disorder: 'God came in, and he changed my life. At that moment, I knew that I would offer everything in my life so that I could follow his calling. He began speaking to me. He wanted me to be in music.'[5]
